Thermal labels

Thermal labels are a type of label that is designed to be used with thermal printers. Thermal printers use heat to transfer ink from a ribbon or coating onto the label, creating a durable, high-quality image or text.

There are two types of thermal labels: direct thermal labels and thermal transfer labels:

  • Direct thermal labels are coated with a heat-sensitive material that darkens when exposed to heat. When a direct thermal label is printed, the printer heats the label in the areas where the text or image is to be printed, causing those areas to darken and create the printed image or text. Direct thermal labels are best suited for applications where the label will not be exposed to direct sunlight or high temperatures, as prolonged exposure to heat can cause the label to darken and become illegible over time.
  • Thermal transfer labels, on the other hand, use a ribbon that is coated with ink or wax to transfer the image or text onto the label. The printer heats the ribbon and the label, causing the ink or wax to transfer onto the label, creating a high-quality, long-lasting print. Thermal transfer labels are more durable than direct thermal labels and are ideal for applications where the label will be exposed to harsh environments or extended periods of time. Thermal labels are commonly used in a variety of applications, including shipping and receiving, inventory management, product labeling, and more. They are available in a variety of sizes, colors, and materials to meet the specific needs of different applications.
